Splashing Charlotte With Reggae Vibes

This past Saturday held the 7th annual Summer Splash event which doubled as a tribute to Sublime’s loved, Bradley Nowell. The event took place at a very unique venue in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Shed is a pop up amphitheater that definitely gave you a very modern vibe along the train station. As the doors opened around 1:30pm the sun beamed a scorching 90 degrees. But it was only about to get hotter from there.

The first four 30 minute sets consisted of Higher Education kicking it off around 2:00pm and See Water hitting the stage shortly after at 2:15pm. The third band was Charlotte locals, Lovely Budz at around 3:30pm and The Dubber rocked the stage last at 4:15pm. As more people filled the crowd and the temperature continued to rise, it moved onto the hour long sets.

The third band was Charlotte locals, Lovely Budz at around 3:30pm and The Dubber rocked the stage last at 4:15pm. As more people filled the crowd and the temperature continued to rise, it moved onto the hour long sets.

Taking the stage first was a band called Resinated from St. Petersburg, Florida. They performed songs such as Sativa Feva, Fired Up! and Paradise and the crowd loved them. Their set started at approximately 5:30 and ended as the sun was getting ready to set. Shortly after, Roots of a Rebellion rocked the stage. During their performance they had Zach Fowler of Sun Dried Vibes jam out with them on stage who is also the founder of Surrounded By The Sound Music Festival which takes place in South Carolina at the end of the summer.

Sun Dried Vibes came after ROAR at about 7:45 and had a beautiful sunset to set the vibe. They played an hour and 15 minute long set to get the crowd ready for the final performance of the night. The sun went down and Badfish Sublime Tribute was the last band to play at Summer Splash 2018 and the crowd went wild singing every song. The night came to an end after an hour and a half set filled with great energy. There’s truly no better way to spend your Saturday. If you’re in the Carolinas in 2019 definitely pick up a ticket to Summer Splash.
