KAABOO Del Mar Festival: The 4 Acts You Must-See

Sometimes festival lineups are almost TOO stellar and it may be a little overwhelming to plan your weekend out when just about every act is on your priority list. KAABOO did a fantastic job making it impossible for anyone to have a terrible time. They have designed this festival to not only be about music but have included designated areas for food, art, hair-styling, massages, comedy, and more! This is not your typical vanilla music festival. Activities are countless and all the performers featured are brilliant!

This is truly a festival for everyone! KAABOO contains a few 2018 heavy hitters such as, Halsey, Post Malone, and Imagine Dragons. Additionally, this festival is packed with a mind-blowing amount of timeless artists like Blondie, Billy Idol, and Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters. To top it all off, there’s an overload of 90’s throwback legends like, Incubus, Cake, Stone Temple Pilots, and TLC! So whether you’re a modern millennial or you grew up in the 70’s, you’re going to have a groovy time. There are so many great musicians and comedians to catch at KAABOO but here are 4 must-sees that should be on your list!

BLONDIE

Get RAPTURED by Blondie on Friday of the festival. The punk rock goddess herself, Debbie Harry will be performing with the rest of the band at KAABOO and it won't be something you’ll want to miss. This band was one of few to establish the 1970’s punk scene in the United States and was still able to get away with implementing diverse genres like disco and rap. Technically, the first rapper to chart at number one was actually Debbie Harry for her vocals on Rapture. Now at 73, Harry is still the queen of punk and lookin’ like the fox that she’s always been. Chris Stein, 68 is also still kicking ass and taking names. These legends together are definitely not a performance that you want to pass up, so make sure you get there one way or another!

ERIK GRIFFIN

Stand-up comedian Erik Griffin will make you ugly-laugh with his blunt observations and matter-of-fact sense of humor on Friday. Griffin is known for his role on Comedy Central’s Workaholics as Montez Walker. You might also recognize him from Showtime’s dark-comedy series I’m Dying Up Here. Produced by the Jim Carrey, this extremely addictive series takes place in the Los Angeles comedy club scene of the 1970’s. His dramatic role as Ralph on I’m Dying Up Here has completely transformed him into a comedic genius of great versatility. Erik Griffin is an up-and-coming breath of fresh, smoggy LA air and you’d be a fool to not catch him at the festival.

WHITNEY CUMMINGS

Queen of Comedy Central roasts and multi-talented stand-up comedian, Whitney Cummings will be taking the stage on Saturday! Not only is this girl hilarious, but she’s an actress, writer, producer, and director. She was executive producer for witty female comedy, 2 Broke Girls, starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs. You’ve seen her in a a few comedy series such as Maron, HBO’s Crashing, and Workaholics. Cummings is also a frequent ruthless roaster on Comedy Central Celebrity Roasts, she’s roasted to Joan Rivers, David Hasselhoff, and even Donald Trump. She’s one of the funniest women in Hollywood and most of all a powerful and inspiring female who grabs the comedy scene by the balls. This is not a stand-up performance you’ll ever forget, it’s strongly recommended that you definitely grab a seat asap for this one.

ROBERT PLANT AND THE SENSATIONAL SPACE SHIFTERS

Bowie, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Freddie Mercury, and so many more legends have passed on that we won't be able to witness live in our lifetimes. Thankfully, Robert Plant is still kickin’, still a babe, and amongst one of the most legendary vocalists in rock music history.

Lead vocalist of Led Zeppelin, legendary god of rock n roll, Robert-freaking-Plant will be performing at KAABOO with his band the Sensational Space Shifters. Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters are known to perform Led Zeppelin classics such as, “Black Dog”, “What Is and What Should Never Be”, “Whole Lotta Love”, and encores have included “Going to California” and “Rock and Roll”. Since the late-1960’s Plant has been performing for large audiences and now in 2018 at 69 years young, he’s still at it. Make sure you get to the stage early and expect this set to to be incredible, life-changing, and mind-blowing! So call off work, sell a kidney, hitchhike, do whatever you can to make it to this festival because Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters will be performing on Sunday. Why would you even consider missing out on that?
