Lollaplaooza 2018 Promises An Unforgettable Weekend in Chicago

On August 2-5, 2018 Lollapalooza will make its much-anticipated return to Grant Park, Chicago, continuing the festival’s long-standing run of over 25 years. In an era where music festivals seem to be more prevalent, widely advertised, and highly attended than ever, it is certainly difficult for festivals to stand out among the crowd. Lollapalooza, however, has such deep roots in the festival realm and a name known worldwide – with installations ranging from Berlin to Brazil to Paris and even Stockholm – that promoters already have a bit of a leg up on the competition when it comes to drawing in audiences.

Yet, beyond its history and namesake, the talent booked for each year’s installation never ceases to impress and certainly allows Lollapalooza to stand out among the masses of other modern festivals. Spanning four days, promoters have been able to consistently pack in more talent and diversity in its lineup than many of the two to three-day festivals across the world. As if four full days of performances was not enough, Lollapalooza also invites guests to attend one of the many Official Aftershows taking place at venues around the city, including House of Blues, Bottom Lounge, Empty Bottle and Chop Shop, among others.

Looking just to the headliners, Lollapalooza 2018 packs a punch with The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, and the not-so-surprising new-comer to festival headlines, Travis Scott of Houston, Texas. After experiencing major success with both of his recent albums, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016) and Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho (2017), Scott has bolstered his already powerful name in the music industry to new levels. Certainly not hurting his recent skyrocket to superstardom has been his relationship with Kylie Jenner and the birth of their child circulating among tabloids. Scott has recently headlined Governor’s Ball in New York, is slated to headline Austin City Limits later this year and promises to put on an incredible performance for Chicago come August. If fans are lucky enough, his upcoming album, Astroworld, may even drop in time to be performed live (possibly for the first time ever) at Lollapalooza 2018.

Further down the list of names, fans of all interests are guaranteed to be pleased. Electronic music enthusiasts are greeted with names like Odesza, Zedd, Galantis, Dillon Francis, and other like Illenium and Malaa. Hip-Hop is well represented as well with Logic, Post Malone, Lil Uzi Vert and Tyler, The Creator among the top names. Last but not least, instrumentalists and full-on live “bands” like Vampire Weekend, Portugal. The Man, The National, and Catfish and Bottlemen rear their heads near the top of the list. If these are not enough to spark one’s interest, the lineup poster contains nearly 30 lines of names to peruse, from which, most music fans – casual or die-hard – are bound to find a name worth seeing.

Fortunately for those attendees who would not rank themselves as a die-hard festival enthusiast or music buff, the four days in Grant Park have more to offer than merely standing in front of stage for hours on end. At the very least, attendees can experience the culinary scene of Chicago with over 35 Food Vendors ready to satisfy appetites throughout the park. Moreover, upgraded ticket packages including the VIP and Platinum experiences are available to offer those willing to spend a pretty penny but reap incredible benefits ranging from complimentary food and beverages to dedicated viewing areas at each of the stages. Whether you are “ballin’ on a budget” or looking to “treat yo’ self,” Lollapalooza 2018 promises not to disappoint anyone who chooses to attend.
