Hella Mega Tour makes dreams come true at Dodgers LA

 

Hella Mega Tour featured live performances by The Interrupters, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day to 21 cities in the US. Despite trials and tribulations, the Hella Mega Tour persevered to bring joy and live entertainment to music lovers locally, nationally, and internationally. Fans traveled from all over the world to experience live performances by their favorite artists. The United States Hella Mega Tour began on July 24th in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field and the final tour date took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington on September 6th. The Hella Mega Tour took over the iconic venue of Dodgers Stadium during their US tour run.

It was a hometown show for The Interrupters and Weezer, who are originally from Los Angeles, California. Fans waited overnight outside the venue to be first in line to grab their prime spot on the floor of the venue. During intermissions, fans recounted on which part of the world they traveled from to experience the Hella Mega Tour. One fan traveled from Brazil to Florida to catch the Hella Mega Tour in Miami Gardens and then flew to Los Angeles to experience the concert again at Dodgers stadium. Another fan explained how they drove through the night from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and without sleeping, waited at the venue to secure their spot front row for the concert. Devoted fans dressed in their favorite band t-shirts featuring. Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and The Interrupters. Adoring fans also carried neon signs saying where they traveled from and asking to perform on stage.

FALL OUT BOY

Fall Out Boy amazed the audience with their futuristic stage design, mesmerizing backdrop, pyrotechnics, and luminating fireworks. Their digital visuals and sensational live performance captivated the arena filled audience. Pete Wentz adorned a Dodgers jersey during song performances and advocated to the audience to dream big. He also entertained fans with his bass guitar skills which featured a flame flower shooting flames upwardly and around the stage. Fall Out Boy performed “Centuries” highlighting the chorus of the song with colossal fireworks. A fun fact actor, Simu Liu, who stars in the new Marvel movie ‘Shang-Chi’ was a stunt double for Pete Wentz on Fall Out Boy’s Romanesque music video, “Centuries.”

Fall Out Boy’s 2005 album, “From Under The Cork Tree,” is the staple for many fans youth reminiscent of high school dances, after school hangouts with friends, and song intermissions at local shows. This double platinum album transformed the group’s musical style and success with two hit tracks, “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” “Dance Dance,” Originating from Chicago’s hardcore punk scene, the group’s music reaches top of the chats with continued popularity. Their musical style has developed into a conventional, polished, and epigrammatic style. In 2020, the group was nominated for MTV’s Best Rock Video for "Dear Future Self (Hands Up)."

GREEN DAY

During the intermission, the tired and perspired fans who had been waiting all day to see their favorite bands, kept their energy levels up as they sang along to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody together in unison.

Once the intermission playlist turned off and a playful and mischievous bunny mascot appeared on stage wearing a Dodgers jersey. Green Day’s pink bunny mascot ran around the stage waving the middle finger and taunting the audience. The Dodgers staff came out running after the bunny mascot trying to catch him. Several of the Dodgers staff were able to catch the gigantic bunny mascot and carry the mascot off stage. Green Day’s show began promptly as colorful images featuring their logo in different typography gleamed on the stage backdrop. The crowd cheered in an uproar as each of Green Day’s band members took their post at their instrument and began their show. Green Day delighted the audience by performing all of their classic tracks such as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

Reminiscing in nostalgia, Green Day’s Billie Armstrong conveyed stories from the band’s musical past, highlighted their showmanship, and loved up on his fellow bandmates who have been his friends for decades. Armstrong also sang heartfelt songs about memorable experiences from his life such as heartbreaks from meaningful relationships. He informed fans that these were some of his favorite songs to perform live such as “Whatsername” and “She.” The audience swayed side to side and held unto their loved one during their live performance as they sang along to their performance of “Wake Me up When September Ends.” Green Day changed the ambience from light heard melodies and then pumped up the audience with their renditions of “21 Guns,” Basket Case,” “American Idiot, and more!

A magnificent pearl guitar was setup on the front of the stage prior to the next song performance. Billie Armstrong walked about on stage and asked the audience if anyone knew how to play guitar. He pointed out to ecstatic fans who eagerly wanted to volunteer to perform onstage with their favorite band. Armstrong pointed out to several audience members who vetted out their guitar skills to the lead singer of Green Day. He invited a fan on stage to perform a song with them and gifted the guitar the fan played on to them.

Green Day have recently released their live cover of KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” performed during their Hella Mega Tour performance.

Fans still feeling nostalgic for Hella Mega Tour and anticipating the return of live music and the memorable performances by these extraordinary artists.

The Hella Mega Tour continues in Europe next Summer 2022. The anticipated European tour kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 19, 2022 at Ernst-Happel Stadion.
