Southern California locals flocked to San Clemente, California to enjoy the festival of the Summer, North Beach Boogie. The Southern California music festival featured musical performances by The Bash Dogs, Lauren Ruth Ward, Automatic, Meatbodies, and the Allah-Las and more! From Modern Punk Rock, Post Punk, Psychedelic Rock, and Surf Rock, festival goers enjoyed an abundance of varied musical genres and live performances at the festival. The festival celebrated true California Rock and the picturesque California lifestyle of waves, beaches, and local breweries. Landers Liquor Bar hosted the festival beachside at their San Clemente location. The festival was also an ideal place to people watch and grab ideas about fashion. Locals walked around the grounds showing off their iconic fashionable outfits from wide-eyed sunglasses, flared bell-bottoms, and patterned tops.

 

THE BASH DOGS

The sun was beating strongly on the audience as the temperatures were high for a California heatwave. This did not stop, local Rock group, The Bash Dogs from giving their all during their enigmatic set. Also, with great fashion style, the band members rocked California fashion staples from LA hats, Dodger jerseys, and patterned retro button downs. Their fashion style and image is reminiscent of iconic John Hughes films such as ‘Sixteen Candles,’ ‘Weird Science,’ and ‘The Breakfast Club.’ A large audience surrounded the stage and swayed and danced along to their lively tunes. The band members provided a riveting performance with their own individual performance solos from bass guitar, drums, guitar, and tambourines. LAUREN RUTH WARD

Powerhouse Siren, Lauren Ruth Ward, bewildered audiences at North Beach Boogie. Her soulful high-octane vocals soared over the crowd. Devoted fans of the artists stood front row and peered over the metal barricades to grab a spot close to the show and for a chance to reach out to Ward. Audience members shouted out playful compliments for an opportunity to grab her attention. The Los Angeles artist has a cult-like following online and in person and there’s no wonder why, in person, she is larger than life: on-stage and off-stage.

Ward expresses her exquisite talents through her powerful musical performances, vintage fashion, and artistic endeavors. She collaborates with local artists on music releases and on-stage at local shows. She also promotes local artists, for example, through her series of singing covers The Doors songs, she collaborated with visual arts to create imaginative music videos to honor the Classic Rock group.

Lauren Ruth Ward and the multi-talented artists in her dynamic rock ensemble, bewitched the North Beach Boogie crowd. The female artists were dazzling to witness as each band member highlighted the show through their musical outlets. Not only was their fashion on point, so was their melodic synchronicity, from top tier engaging performances, heartfelt lyrics, robust drumming, and smooth guitar and bass lines. Their live performance was emotional as audience members sang along to the music, reaching their arms out and shouting on the top of their lungs. Ward did not stop moving across the stage as she twirled and played the bongos. She performed a moving set as she crawled up against the speakers while embracing her microphone.

AUTOMATIC

Los Angeles trio, Automatic, The group is composed of musicians: Izzy Glaudini, who performs the synthesizer, Halle Saxon on bass, and Lola Dompé, who performs the drums. Their stage setup is minimalistic yet provides for a thunderous show. Their seductively catchy rhythms leaves the listener wanting to sway or at minimum tap their feet along with the music. Their fuzzy electronic sounds combined with high pitched vocals leaves the viewer with a gripping musical memory. Their music combines Post Punk elements with European Ambient experimentalism. They released their second album, ‘Excess’ on June 24th.

The musicians met in the Los Angeles music scene and have been paving their way through the city. During the festival weekend, the group hosted a charity event and meetup to encourage local residents to help clean up the LA River. They collaborated with local Los Angeles fashion label ‘We are World Famous’ to host giveaways for the event. Automatic recently performed the Punk Rock and Goth festival hosted by Goldenvoice, ‘Cruel World Festival’ at the Rose bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

MEATBODIES

As the sun set on the beach, the crowd grew antsy in anticipation for the upcoming headlining sets. The crowd developed an enormous mosh pit during Meatbodies raw live show. Even festival goers in their designer outfits pushed upon the other crowd goers to ramp up the mosh with no care about ruining their stylish outfits. During the set, a huge dust cloud formed in and above the crowd as more people kicked up the sand and danced in a circle in the center of the festival grounds. Meatbodies’ exciting live set was pumped full of energy and heavy Punk Rock. Their pulsating guitar riffs and mighty drumbeats could be felt on one’s chest as the band raged with their instruments on the stage. ALLAH-LAS

Los Angeles artist, Allah Las, headlined Saturday’s North Beach Boogie line-up. The crowd grew larger before the band stepped onto the stage as audience members were thrilled about their upcoming performance. The band is composed of musicians: Miles Michaud, lead singer and guitarist, Matthew Correia, drummer, Spencer Dunham, bassist, and Pedrum Siadatian, guitarist. It felt as if the audience was transported to vintage California and 1967’s ‘Summer of Love.' With psychedelic bubbling visuals and smooth lush sounds, the Allah Las’ musical set placed the audience on a higher level. They transcended into a lighter head space as the sun dimmed and an aurora of happiness was felt in the atmosphere. The group performed crowd favorites along with a selection of single releases and selections from their discography. Their music is featured on streaming platforms with streams in the top millions.
